Yours truly is officially moved into college! It took a couple of days to get everything all settled and for me to be able to unpack the massive amount of stuff I ended up bringing, and I'm pleased with the result. I've managed to make my half of the room feel a little homey.
I've completed my first full week of classes and I'm happy to say I really enjoy all of them. The nice part about having my associates degree is that I can skip all of my foundations classes and just focus on my religion courses and those specific to my major (sociology).
Overall, I've really been enjoying my time here. It's been an interesting experience being so far away from home but I've been doing pretty well handling it all. I really enjoy all of my classes despite the amount of work I have to do already. My Teachings of the Book of Mormon class is starting to be one of my favorites. My professor is really funny and definitely isn't boring. All of my professors are really nice and great, which I am grateful about. It seems like my first semester at BYU-I is going to be decently successful!
While educationally I have been doing pretty well, socially, I've been struggling a little. BUT, I've been trying to go out and do things and not spent too much time in my room. It can be a little stressful being in a new place and not really knowing anyone, but I'm trying not to get discouraged and I'm definitely going to push myself to go out of my comfort zone.
The real college experience has been pretty fun so far. It's definitely different from community college in so many different ways, but I'm actually kind of loving it. Before I left, I was so stressed and I honestly cried myself to sleep the entire week leading up to leaving. I was worried about being in a new place, I was a little worried about classes, and definitely concerned about leaving my parents (ahem, and my dogs). It all seemed like a lot to handle and a lot of my anxiety was at a new high it felt like. I really wasn't sure what I was going to do and a lot of me felt like I was going to end up failing or something. But so far, things have been going surprisingly pretty well! I'm surprised at how much I really like Rexburg and everything. I'm really glad I ended up here.
Today's quote is in honor of starting something new:
Yay for college!
