In no particular order, here are some of the things I'm thankful for this Thanksgiving*:
1. Family
Mom and dad (do absolutely everything and more). Brothers (weird but they're pretty amazing). Two sisters-in-law (my favorites). They are all quite possibly (or actually) my favorite people. I love them all dearly. They've done an infinite amount of things for me that would take forever to write down. I always have fun with them (we'll pretend I've never gotten mad at them because that would be silly).
2. Friends
All of my friends are truly amazing. They always know how to make me laugh and I can always manage to have a great time with them. After my family they are my favoritest (pretend that's a word) people. I can always count on them. I trust them with a lot.
3. A home
I think there's a difference between a house and a home. A house is a place you live. A home is a place where you create memories and spend time with your family. It's a place filled with warmth, love, and even the occasional fight.
4. Food and Drinks
Pizza. Hot chocolate. Just any kind of food or drink. There are so many people all over who don't have food or anything to drink. It's something I take for granted a lot. But when I stop to really think about it, I'm immensely grateful for all that I have to make sure I can survive.
5. Education
It might be such a hassle sometimes and I constantly complain about homework (mostly my stats work), but education is a huge blessing. Learning is an amazing thing.
6. Technology
You can learn a lot of good things from technology. I think sometimes we tend to focus on how technology is hurtful and not always a good thing. While this is sometimes true, technology is quite an amazing thing. We have access to so much. We can connect to people. We can educate ourselves and research easier than ever before. It's quite amazing.
7. Dogs
While this may seem pretty random, I'm pretty thankful for my two dogs. They're pretty darn cute and fun to cuddle with. They bring joy (and the occasional annoyance).
8. Warmth
Pellet stoves? Heat? Truly an amazing thing. Winter is basically here and it gets pretty cold, so the beautiful heat is great.
9. Music
I just really appreciate music. I listen to it all the time. It makes me happy. I drive in the car and sing pretty loudly (although not that pretty) and just have fun. Music is another thing that I wouldn't actually be able to live without.
10. Baby Grand Piano's
It's been a year and two days since my baby grand came into the house. It's beautiful. I really enjoy playing it and am extremely grateful to the two parents who were kind enough to buy it for me.
11. Seminary
It is wicked hard to wake up at 5 in the morning and most of the time I show up late, but in the end, it's a great blessing. It's fun to see my friends every morning and learn more about the gospel. The occasional food in the morning is always a plus too.
12. Cars
Driving isn't always too much fun sometimes, but I would never be able to get anywhere without a car. I can't ride a bike and my long boarding skills really aren't that great, not the mention it would get me no where far.
13. Beds
Especially in the winter. You just get so nice and warm in them. *sigh* Truly great.
14. Netflix
Gilmore Girls? I watch a lot of Netflix and should probably get a life.
15. Ice Cream
I know it's cold but ice cream is a pretty great thing. Never fails.
16. The First Snowfall
It's very pretty right now. Once it gets into January, I don't always appreciate snow... but it's still nice in the beginning. We even made some snowmen today.
17. Games
When the family comes over, then it's even better. I love all sorts of games. Even when I lose (sorta).
18. Smiles.
While it may seem like "Wow. Thankful for smiles, huh? What does that even mean?" it's true. Smiles are a beautiful thing. Whenever someone smiles at me, I always feel a lot better. I'm thankful for all of those people I pass by who just smile at me.
19. New Semesters
As much as this semester was great and I learned a lot, next semester will definitely be a much better time. I'll be able to really focus on my major. I'm grateful for that.
20. Personal Progress
I've learned a lot from Personal Progress. It's a great opportunity to learn more about the gospel and oneself. It teaches you a lot. It creates new good habits and shapes you to try and reach your full potential. It helps you realize how much worth you have.
21. Pathways 2016
It goes kind of goes along with education, but I'm extremely grateful for this program. MWCC has been great so far and this opportunity has been truly amazing. Challenging, but amazing.
22. Holiday Season
Thanksgiving. Christmas. Giving and thanks. There's so much that I'm reminded of around this holiday season. It's a good reminder of all that I have and how giving to/loving others is really important. This mindset is something I really want to try and keep with me all year around.
23. Christmas Music
I broke Christmas tradition and have listened to Christmas music since, like, two weeks ago. Now I feel less guilty.
24. This.
Not very specific but by "This" I mean this blog. By that I mean I'm thankful for the chance to write posts for this blog. It really has helped me try to be more positive. I think I've learned some from this experience.
25. Trials
In the end, trials happen for a reason and I learn a lot from them. They're hard, but much needed.
26. The Gospel
The gospel has done an infinite amount of good in my life. Without it, who knows where I would be. Through the gospel I am able to see all that I can become. Whenever I struggle, I know there's a reason. I know that everything I've ever been through and everything I ever will go through is all for a reason. I love the gospel. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is a huge blessing.
27. Just... life.
Sometimes I think of what would happen if I wasn't here. I had come from nothing and ended up having everything I could dream of. Living here, having the gospel, and having the family and friends I have is the best thing that could happen. I'm grateful for everything I've been given.
*This was supposed to be posted on Thanksgiving, but I'm a slacker. So Happy (belated) Thanksgiving! I hope it was good.
